Our Board of Directors consists of five members of the community, each of whom brings a special dedication and expertise to There Are No Limits.
Thomas J. Askins-Chairman
For more than 35 years, Tom Askins has passionately worked as a volunteer in alcohol and drug abuse rehabilitation. He has developed a formula called H.O.P.E. which stands for Honesty of emotions, Open-mindedness, Principles, and Evaluation of our emotional reactions for the benefit of choosing our daily attitude. He has found that the use of this formula facilitates a more effective way of living through self-discipline and self-responsibility.
For the past twenty years Tom has owned Pacific Investment Center, a full-service brokerage firm that manages money for individuals and corporations.* He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Economics from University of San Francisco. His community involvement includes: Trustee for the Fair Oaks Cemetery District (Chairman 2003 and 2005); member of the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors 2000-2006 (President 2003); Citizen of the year for the Fair Oaks Chamber in 2004.

Roberta G. Pickett - Secretary, Director and Facilitator
Roberta Pickett, a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach, has operated her own coaching, consulting, and training business for over 5 years, providing organizational, leadership, and personal development to individuals and organizations. Her mission is to assist her clients in making courageous leaps of transformational change in their processes, results, and/or relationships. She challenges them to step into the leader within themselves and take the actions necessary to experience excitement, results, joy, and fulfillment, in their lives or businesses. A gentle yet powerful leader, dynamic speaker, and interactive trainer, Roberta uses her extensive experience and her intuitive abilities to get to the core of the matter at hand.
Roberta opened her own business in 2000 after almost 25 years of management and executive management experience in the telecommunications industry. Founder and Past President of Sacramento Coaches Association, Roberta is also a member of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce, Fair Oaks Rotary, and the International Coach Federation. Roberta holds a Masters Degree in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from University of Notre Dame de Namur. A published poet and writer Listed in the International Who’s Who in Poetry, Roberta is an adjunct faculty member at CSUS-CCE and the lead coach for their Exemplary Leadership Coaching Program.
Roger Turner is an independent representative for financial and lending institutions. He has many years experience in the practice of funding residential and commercial real estate along with business loans. He is also experienced in real estate development and construction. Currently he is a member of the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors.
Roger started his business career in 1974 as a salesman of automatic controls. This business grew to the point where it was designing, manufacturing, distributing and integrating high-tech controls, instrumentation and process equipment for factory automation. He served on the Board of Directors for the Association of High Technology Distributors for several years and numerous manufactures distributor councils like IBM, Micro Switch Div. Of Honeywell and Compumotor Div. Of Parker. He sold this business in 1995. He is an engineer from UCLA.
Robert Walters is an attorney, legislative advocate, mediator and arbitrator. He has practiced law in California since 1966 and has engaged in advocacy for businesses, public agencies, professional groups and associations before the California Legislature and executive agencies of California State Government for over 30 years. He has mediated and/or arbitrated construction disputes, school issues and private business disputes for over 8 years.
Mr. Walters has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the San Juan Unified School District, member of the Sacramento County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission, member of the Sacramento County Policy Planning Commission, and the Board of the Northern California Division of the National March of Dimes Foundation as well as on numerous charitable and civic boards and commissions.
Mary Curtis is a retired federal employee whose service included developing the capacity of struggling communities and serving on various national committees impacting the future of healthcare in rural communities. Since her retirement in 1997, Ms. Curtis has served as Director of several community and rural healthcare facilities implementing visionary approaches to improving continuity of care for patients.
Most recently Ms. Curtis has become a full-time consultant in community development and planning, raising start-up funds and providing professional direction to the implementation of new program services.
